My baby was born on April 14, 2023, and breastfeeding was a rollercoaster journey for me and my LO. I had flat nipples on both sides, and my baby found it difficult to latch. I was so devastated and tried every option, like nipple pullers, nipple shields, and extracting and feeding. There was constant pressure from my family to switch to formula milk, as he was not gaining weight properly and latching was still difficult. I used to always ping Hema Mam for her guidance and ask silly questions. She was always there for me, and it was because of her that I was so strong in not feeding formula milk to my baby. After all my efforts, by 45 days, my baby started latching properly on both sides, and that was the moment I started feeling wonderful about my breastfeeding journey. I felt like I had conquered the world. I am now happily breastfeeding my 3.5-month-old baby, who now latches by himself. He is a pro now!
Happily Breastfeeding Mom

I’m happy to share my own experience. My breastfeeding journey has been like a jackfruit. I had a C-section on May 15, and I was very depressed about breastfeeding. I couldn’t hold my baby on my own and breastfeed him. I had flat nipples, and this made me even more depressed, as I didn’t know how I was going to breastfeed my baby. My family members kept saying, “Flat nipple, flat nipple. How is the baby going to drink milk? He couldn’t latch properly. The baby is in hunger, so he cries a lot.” They also said that I had a low milk supply, and they forced me to give formula milk. However, I was strong in my decision to breastfeed my baby. I was depressed and cried a lot in the hospital. I couldn’t feed my baby happily, and he was in hunger. Dr. Bala Abirami Mam was the only one who consoled me. She told me that flat nipples are not a problem, and babies can latch on to them. On the day of discharge, Hema Mam came and taught me how to hold the baby and feed him. She taught me different positions to latch

6. My girl baby was born on April 13, 2023. This is my second baby. Both babies were born in Arun Hospital. I really struggled when delivering and breastfeeding my first baby. I was depressed and cried a lot. Because I was not aware of urine count checks, latching issues, or even weight gain checks also at that time. My family members had one mantra, “paal pathala so baby weight gain aagala” (If the baby doesn’t drink milk, the baby won’t gain weight). But I had a little bit of hope in me, so I successfully fed my baby for up to 1 year and 3 months. I started my second journey with a lot of energy. I am really thankful to Bala Abirami Mam and Hema for arranging the breastfeeding class and awareness classes. It was very useful, even though my mom also attended the classes. So she got more information about breastfeeding. My second delivery was quick. The baby was born within 20 minutes in the hospital. With more hope, I started my breastfeeding journey. I was really surprised when I was down during breastfeeding, my mom was giving suggestions because of the classes. I am really happy and strongly believe in my body. Once again, I would like to thank Bala Abirami Mam, Hema Mam, and Arun Hospital!

Happily Breastfeeding Mom

I would like to thank all the nursing staff, Hema Mam, and Bala Abirami Mam for helping me with breastfeeding right from the birth of my little angel. I had an emergency C-section, so I was doubtful if the baby would be given formula feeding till I was able to feed. But unlike other hospitals, here the nurses helped in feeding the baby in the postpartum recovery room almost an hour post-birth. The initial few days were a bit tough to latch, but later on, a smiling face on the baby post-feeding gave me a lot of confidence. There were constant comments from family members that the baby might not get enough milk or might not put on weight, but trusting my body was the sole medicine. It knows what my baby needs and functions accordingly. Kudos to all new mommies for exclusively breastfeeding despite random advice from elderly family members and old age sayings.

2. I didn’t realize the joy of motherhood when I saw or held my son for the first time, but when he latched properly, I had this rewarding feeling that can’t be described in words. It was as if I had achieved what I was trying to do for the last 10 months with distinction. My bond with my baby boy tremendously increased each time I fed him. Breastfeeding helped me recover soon and to bond with my baby. Thanks a lot for all the support. I could not have done it without the support of this group and doctors.

Hi mam, can’t thank you enough for the special, excellent care you have provided in my critical delivery history. My baby boy is completed 6 months today and I really got good support from you (Dr. Bala Abirami, Hema mam and the staff in the hospital). I sincerely appreciate Hema mam for pinging me personally based on the situation and guiding us in a right path. In the recent times I have never heard about having a WhatsApp group for the basic clarification for the patients but here you are doing so. Thank you so much for the great care and surgery you performed on me.
